Chief Executive Officer, Founder
Benn Barrantes is a seasoned social service professional with extensive expertise in applied behavior analysis, philosophy, and disability services. He holds a Social Service Worker Diploma from Sheridan College (2008) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from York University (2013). He has completed coursework towards his Master of Applied Disability Studies (MADS) with a specialization in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Philosophy at York University. A Registered Social Service Worker (RSSW) in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), Benn has worked across both the public and private sectors since 2008, supporting individuals with dual diagnoses, developmental disabilities, acquired brain injuries (ABI), and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In 2020, he founded Barrantes & Associates Inc., a multidisciplinary service provider delivering high-quality, client-centered care in collaboration with regulated health professionals. He is also a Certified CPR/First Aid Trainer, Safe Management Trainer, and holds multiple specialized certifications in brain injury rehabilitation, mental health, addiction, and suicide intervention.
In 2023, Benn expanded his commitment to residential and community-based services by incorporating Barrantes Group Living Inc. (BGL) and Barrantes Community Inc. (BC). BGL provides structured residential services for individuals requiring specialized, long-term care, while BC delivers community-based programs designed to foster independence and social integration. Under his leadership, these organizations have reached key milestones, including obtaining a Children’s Residential License and operating a fourplex residence that provides a safe, structured environment for adults with complex needs. Furthering his dedication to operational excellence and digital transformation, Benn launched the Barrantes Networking App, an innovative management tool that streamlines associate hour tracking, payroll processing, human resources management, and client session documentation into a centralized, secure database.
Beyond social services, Benn has demonstrated a strong commitment to education and philosophical inquiry by establishing the Barrantes Prizes in Philosophy at York University. With a $100,000 donation over five years, these prizes recognize outstanding student essays that explore the intersection of philosophical thinking and social impact. Through his leadership and vision, Benn continues to develop comprehensive, high-quality support systems that empower individuals to lead fulfilling lives while advancing academic and professional excellence.
